What is Royalty-Free footage?

The term royalty-free means that once the content is licensed under a set of guidelines, the licensee is normally free to use it in perpetuity without paying additional royalty charges.
Our Content License Agreement allows buyers to use footage in a wide variety of ways in their own projects, across multiple projects, for a one-time licensing fee.

The Content License Agreement is the license that is agreed to by the buyer when purchasing a video clip from Lots Of Footage.

What is a clipbox?

A clipbox is used to bookmark video clips that you would like to eventually download or refer to later. You can create/ rename/ remove clipboxes, add and remove video clips.

Where can I find the technical details of the footage I am interested in purchasing from www.lotsoffootage.com?

To view the technical details of a video clip, click on the thumbnail of the clip. You will be redirected to the information page of the clip there you will find technical details about the clip, including file extension, format, codec and frame rate information.

Before you purchase a clip, please check this information carefully and make sure that you will be able to work with the footage.

How do I find and select clips for purchasing?

In order to search for clips, enter a search keyword in the Keyword field in the "Search clips" box (leave the field blank to view all clips) or click a category name to view all the clips in the category.
If a clip interests you, you can add it to your shopping cart by clicking on the "add to cart" link under the clip thumbnail.

What methods of payment can I use to buy clips?

All the transactions are done via Secured PayPal payment interface. Lots Of Footage does not store or have access to any of your credit card information. You can use all the major credit cards or your PayPal account to make a payment.

How do I download purchased clips?

After PayPal has approved your payment and the transaction has been completed, the video clips you have purchased will be available for instant downloading in the "My Downloads" section of the site.

How do I get a copy of the invoice for my purchase?

Purchase invoices are available for downloading in the "My Downloads" section. In order to download an invoice, click the link "Generate receipt" next to the video clip.

What is a Submission Agreement?

The Submission Agreement is the agreement between Lots Of Footage and a footage contributor that the contributor agrees to when uploading his/her footage to Lots Of Footage.

Who can sell footage on www.lotsoffootage.com?

Any copyright-holder of high-quality footage, including individuals, companies, and organizations.

How do I sell my footage on www.lotsoffootage.com?

It's simple. After creating a free account with Lots Of Footage you can start uploading your footage. Once your video clips are uploaded, you will need to add the information about the clips (name, description, keywords, category, etc.).

After your video clips are approved for sale on the site, buyers will be able to search for, preview and purchase your clips.

How much will I earn? How and when will I get paid?

Artists earn 50% royalties on all clip sales. You can transfer your earnings to your PayPal account whenever you wish to, provided that your account balance is greater than the mininum payout amount of $50 USD.

How do I upload my clips?

You can upload your video clips directly through the website or by using our FTP (File Transfer Protocol) server.
After creating an account you will have access to a detailed tutorial on how to upload your video clips to Lots Of Footage.

How long will it take to upload my footage? Do I need a broadband internet connection?

The amount of time it takes to upload your clips depends on the size of the files and the speed of your connection. Remember that broadcast-quality video files are very large, and may take a long time to upload. Please be patient with the uploading process.

How do I decide how to price my clips?

The minimum price for broadcast-quality SD and HD clips is $5 USD. Please use our pricing guidelines which can be found on the video requirements page to determine an approximate price for your clips. There is no limit to the price but overpricing your videos might result in low sales or no sales at all.

Will I retain copyright of my work?

Yes. You will simply be using www.lotsoffootage.com as a marketplace through which you license the use of your footage to other media producers under our Content License Agreement.

What else can I do with my footage? Do you have exclusive rights to represent it?

Our agreement is non-exclusive, which means that you can do what you like with your footage, including sell it elsewhere.

When is a model/property release required?

All clips where an identifiable human face is present require a model release. There are no exceptions. In some cases a release may be required even if the face is not identifiable. If your clip is meant to be used for commercial purposes, we require a model release for each recognizable individual depicted. For editorial footage (that is, footage which is newsworthy or has documentary value), model releases are not usually required. There should be no copyrighted music or sound on the audio track without an accompanying property release, and no recognizable voices without a model release. Likewise, there can't be any trademarks, logos or brands depicted in the footage without a release.

How do I upload a Model/Property release?

Signed by hand Model/Property releases should be scanned and uploaded as ".jpg" files. You will be able to upload Model/Property releases by clicking on the "Upload release" link next to the video clip in "My uploads" section.

Do you offer Rights-Managed sales?

Not at the moment. All clips from Lots Of Footage are royalty-free and subject to our Content License Agreement.
